The Top 6 Virginia Mountain Wedding Venues

Searching for a venue for your glorious mountain wedding? In Virginia, you won’t have to look far! I’ve spent years photographing weddings in Virginia, and our dramatic mountain ranges offer the perfect backdrop for a beautiful and romantic wedding experience.

Whether you are looking for something rustic and intimate, or perhaps a venue that’s a little more sweeping and grand, Virginia has a mountain wedding venue for you. Read on to discover my favorite Virginia mountain wedding venues!

Montalto, Charlottesville

Montalto is perched on green slopes overlooking Thomas Jefferson’s iconic Monticello residence below, and it boasts sweeping views of the stunning countryside and Charlottesville’s distant lights.

One of the most elegant of Virginia mountain wedding venues, Montalto has historical architecture and beautifully-furnished rooms that will instantly create a lovely atmosphere, especially if you are looking for a traditional, formal reception.

To get the most out of the breathtaking beauty, however, I would suggest considering an outdoor ceremony on the lawn and a pavilion for dining and dancing. There is something about an outdoor wedding that is instantly magical! You and your guests can watch the sun set into the mountains before you dance the night away.

The Retreat at Cool Spring, Bluemont

This delightful historic farmhouse in the center of Virginia’s wine country is truly a joy. I love getting to photograph couples here – the atmosphere breathes elegance in an intimate setting. The farmhouse sleeps 14, and so it provides a charming place for you and your bridal party to stay the night over beforehand if you want a leisurely morning to get ready in luxurious, peaceful surroundings.

If you’re looking for Virginia mountain wedding venues that have views of the Shenandoah River, this could be the place for you. The beautiful manor house forms the perfect backdrop to a ceremony in the courtyard, and it is surrounded by beautiful old oak trees that really give a sense of peace to the whole setting. You have the option to hold your ceremony and celebrations in the open air or a tent.

Keep in mind that part of this is one of the Virginia mountain wedding venues that have cultivated a charming and intimate atmosphere – it is best suited for smaller ceremonies.

One of the things that makes this place so special among Virginia mountain wedding venues is that it boasts a gorgeous lake! Ceremonies can take place right down by the willows and the water – how enchanting!

This is a pristine farm run by a delightful couple who have restored the 19th-century barn to give you the most charming of Virginia mountain wedding venues. The buildings are a wonderful balance of clean modern minimalism and old-world charm – backed by acres of green fields and then the misty ridges of the mountains, the overall effect is nothing short of idyllic.

The Homestead, Hotsprings

If you are planning a large and luxurious wedding, the Omni Homestead Resort could be the perfect choice for you! From its pillar-lined dining room to its crystalline ballroom to its gorgeous grounds, this is unique among Virginia mountain wedding venues because it is practically made up of gorgeous sites to pick from.

One of my favorite places on the property is the rustic shooting club pavilion. It overlooks the rolling hills of the George Washington National Forest, and if you choose to hold your reception here, you will be getting the best of both worlds: rugged natural scenery and world-class luxury all in one.

Not to mention, this Virginia mountain wedding venue is nestled among ski slopes, golf courses, and national parks – and, of course, the hot springs that give this town its name. Of all Virginia mountain wedding venues, this one’s not a bad place to kick off a honeymoon!

Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyards, North Garden

One of Brides Magazine’s top-rated wedding venues is here in our own Virginia! Looking around Pippin Hill Farm, it’s easy to understand why. This property was designed to deliver the smoothest and most effortless wedding day experience, and its views of layers of the Blue Ridge mountains sweeping into the distance are pretty matchless among Virginia mountain wedding venues.

Their delightful granary offers ample space for guests to dine and celebrate in elegance, while the romantically-lit verandah spills out into the rolling fields. Their ceremony site is on a gentle hill with incredible views of the surrounding beauty.

One of the nice things about this venue is how well-thought-out the proximity of everything is – it gives a sense of spaciousness and peace, but is actually conveniently designed and easy to navigate, with each space flowing to the next. If you’re looking at Virginia mountain wedding venues, this should certainly make the shortlist!

Dover Hall, Manakin-Sabot

If you are dreaming of Virginia mountain wedding venues with a fairy-tale atmosphere, this regal private estate is a magical place to celebrate your wedding! With space to hold a summer reception in the charming cobbled courtyard or a winter celebration in the striking ballroom, this unique space ensures that your guests will remember their evening. Every element of this property, from the sweeping staircases to the glimmering pond to the ivy-covered walls, is designed to make you feel that you’ve been whisked into another world.

As a photographer, I’m thinking about the photos: and this place is bursting with opportunities to create enduring memories! There aren’t many Virginia mountain wedding venues that can boast 55 acres of natural beauty surrounding them, and the land around this historic mountain wedding venue offers beautiful backdrops to every activity.

Inside the house, it’s no different. The suites of rooms are just as magnificent, which will allow you and your bridal party to get ready for the day surrounded by elegant touches and pristine hospitality.

Virginia Mountain Wedding Venue For You

There’s a whole range on this list – from the glamorous to the unfussy – so I’m certain you’ll find one that will make your unique wedding become a beautiful reality. Once you have chosen a setting from all the Virginia mountain wedding venues available to you, so many other parts of the wedding start to fall into place.
